Food is perhaps the most fundamental of all human needs.
Each year, Canada imports 573M lbs. or about $2.25B worth of leafy greens from thousands of kilometres away.
Long supply chain dependence and farmer unpredictability are dangerous.
Judd Acres' mission aims to fix this.
Judd Acres will be able to deliver on its mission to help fix Canada’s broken food system and replace imported produce with clean organic all natural leafy greens that are locally grown and better tasting. The way our food is supposed to be.
Leafy greens are the most imported vegetables consumed by Canadians with most coming from Mexico and California.
Why Local Vertical Farming?
Land Use
Vertical farming uses less land because we can grow vertically. Not limited to agricultural zone areas.
Water Use
Less water resources are needed. 3.78 L of water per head of lettuce grown vertically as opposed to 38 L in a traditional farming method.
Energy Use
Greater need for energy, although, with the advancement in LED technology, energy consumption is dramatically reduced compared to previous lighting systems.
An environmentally conscious company within the Agritech industry, utilizing the most advanced controlled indoor vertical farming technology, Judd Acres will locally grow leafy greens (lettuces, microgreens, herbs, and shoots) to a province-wide clientele. Led by a young, dynamic, innovative family focused on healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. This team is committed to success and their passion for the industry through resilience, grit, and perseverance.
